A technology company based in the United States, with an established catalog of APIs —IP Geolocation, Email Validation, Phone Validation and others— came to MD with a precise goal: not to start from scratch, but to accelerate. Its product pages already had organic presence, but their potential was far from fully realized.
The initial diagnosis revealed several brakes on growth: a legacy of programmatic SEO implemented by a previous agency had generated thousands of URLs with low-quality keywords that polluted the crawl budget and diluted the domain's authority. The backlink profile had accumulated toxic links. And the blog contained articles that neither attracted relevant traffic nor reinforced the product pages.
The opportunity was clear: clean up the technical foundation, strengthen the pages that were already working, add new tools to the site to capture high-intent searches, and build a content strategy that would position the platform beyond its established product keywords.
The work began with a deep technical audit. The URLs generated by programmatic SEO that brought irrelevant traffic and saturated the crawl budget were identified and deindexed. Strategic 301 redirects were created, unnecessary redirects were removed, and a custom 404 page was built to recover lost link equity.
In parallel, an exhaustive analysis of toxic backlinks was carried out on the site's most important pages —including the IP Geolocation and Email Validation APIs— and the entire domain was put through a disavow process to clean up the link profile.
On the content front, underperforming key blog pages were optimized, internal linking was worked in batches across dozens of strategic articles, and new articles were produced to capture high-intent non-branded traffic. The blog's author pages were created and strengthened to reinforce E-E-A-T signals, which are critical in the technology niche. The sitemap and the main menu structure were also optimized to improve navigation and indexing.
One of the keys to the project was the constant coordination between the MD team and the client. Technical decisions —such as pausing the deindexation of certain URL parameters until the impact was confirmed— were taken collaboratively, avoiding actions that could negatively affect well-performing pages.
The linkbuilding strategy was also planned jointly: instead of volume, relevance and editorial quality were prioritized, with participation in real conversations within the developer community (Reddit, technical forums, specialized blogs) where the product added genuine value to the context.
The results are expressed clearly in the number that matters most to the business: accounts created. In 2025, the platform recorded 21,008 new accounts, compared with 14,366 the previous year — a +46% year-over-year increase.
Growth was sustained month after month. The monthly average at the start of the engagement was approximately 1,700 accounts; by the first quarter of 2026 that figure reached a peak of 2,819 accounts in March, a +65% increase over the starting point.
In terms of rankings, the average position on Google went from 22.2 to 11.4, reflecting the site's consolidation on the first page for dozens of high-intent non-branded keywords. Organic clicks grew by +26.7% over the comparable period.
The site stopped depending on branded traffic and began capturing developers at the exact moment they are looking for a solution: before they know the product.
We used Ahrefs to audit the backlink profile of the entire domain and of the most strategic pages. We identified the priority toxic links, analyzed the traffic history to understand the previous decline, and monitored how rankings evolved throughout the campaign.
GSC was our operational compass. We tracked the evolution of clicks, impressions and average position week by week, validated that deindexations and redirects were processed correctly, and spotted optimization opportunities on pages with high impression volume but a low click-through rate.
Screaming Frog let us map the site architecture in depth: we identified unnecessary redirects, broken links, duplicate pages generated by the previous programmatic SEO, and images without alternative text. Without this initial technical diagnosis, the content work would have been built on unstable foundations.
